For Daniel A. Di Donato, organizational fund raising, planning and public relations have been a vocation as well as a volunteer commitment. During his career, he has been successful in raising millions of dollars through capital campaigns, private foundation and corporate grant funding, direct mail solicitations, special events and planned giving programs. In addition, he has been a progressive planner and communicator for the organizations he has served as executive, staff member and leadership volunteer.
For the past 17 years, Dan has served as VP, Development for Shepherds Ministries located in Union Grove, WI. Working with the Executive Team and the Board of Directors, Dan coordinated the process to establish the Shepherds Foundation in 2004 as philanthropic arm of the ministry. He expanded the planned and deferred giving program.
Prior to his assignment with Shepherds Ministries, Dan spent over 25 years as Chief Development Officer for several community hospitals and health care systems in the Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia area. These positions included oversight of the fund development program, public relations efforts, volunteer coordination and service as Foundation Executive Director. He has been successful in generating gift income through special events, annual funds and appeals, grant funding, special project efforts and capital campaigns as well as expertise in the area of planned giving and financial planning.
Mr. Di Donato has been an active member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, (AHP), throughout his career, and was inducted as a Fellow of AHP. The Fellow designation, FAHP (Fellow, Association for Hospital Philanthropy) is the highest level of accreditation, achievement and recognition in the field of healthcare fund development.
Mr. Di Donato is currently serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the Institute of Biblical Leadership (IBL) in Lake Lure, NC; (www.iblministry.org). He served as board chairman for many years. He is also serving as board member and Secretary for the Faith Community Foundation, a donor advised fund located in the Des Moines, IA area providing valuable funding for ministry work around the country.
Mr. Di Donato received his BA in Government and Communications from Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ. He successfully completed an advanced course in Planned Giving at the AHP Philanthropy Institute held at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He was also was enrolled as a graduate student in Business Administration at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.
