Lakeland Christian School

Lakeland Christian School campusLAKELAND CHRISTAN SCHOOL, located in Lakeland, Florida, is a 52 year old institution with a quality K-12 program.  This past year LCS welcomed 206 new students and grew to over 1,200.  The elementary facility was old and outdated and needed to be upgraded.  The last campaign successfully raised $3,000,000 for a new gym and dining commons.  The unfolding strategic plan identified a need to raise $27 million dollars to build a new maintenance building, elementary building, science and technology building, new parking lot, new entrance to address traffic flow, and the purchase of adjoining property. The jump from click for larger image of the $2M check$3 million to $27 million is a major leap of faith.  Headmaster Dr. Mike Sligh, Advancement Director Steve Wilson, and the school trustees needed a ministry partner to help them move forward. They selected The Timothy Group to complete the study and begin a huge "quiet phase" to identify lead gifts and organize the committees to help turn this goal into reality.  A $2,000,000 lead gift (the largest by far in the school's history) was committed and the campaign continues to climb in cash and commitments each month. Mike and Steve selected committee chairs for the "Embrace the Vision - Deliver the Dream" campaign, made up of community leaders who have networking and capacity building skills. This campaign will be one of the largest in the history of ACSI Florida schools and continues to progress forward.  We will keep you posted on the miracle God is performing at LCS.

Valley Christian Schools

Valley Christian High SchoolVALLEY CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS, located in the suburbs of Los Angeles, serves over 1,500 students on four campuses in grades pre-K through 12.   With a new superintendent, a vacancy in the only development position, and a campaign that after three years had plateaued at $1.8 million, Valley Christian wanted a firm to help put the capital campaign back on track.  The Timothy Group provided both campaign counsel and part time campaign management assistance for one year. At the end of the year the campaign had reached the $5 million mark.  Today the high school addition has been completed.

Minnehaha Academy

Minnehaha Academy logoA top caliber Christian college-preparatory school, MINNEHAHA ACADEMY, contracted with The Timothy Group to work with its Long Range Planning Committee in developing a new five-year plan. Consultants met first with members of the Academy's administration and later with eight focus groups representing a cross-section of the Academy's constituency: administrators, students, parents, teachers within the Academy's different schools, board members, and staff members. Focus group participants were asked a series of strategic planning questions and then were encouraged to provide forthright responses, as well as to interact with the responses of their colleagues. The Timothy Group later summarized, analyzed, and presented the rather extensive responses recorded in these sessions to the Board of Education during a special Board planning breakfast. In addition, the consultant presented to the Board a series of observations entitled, "What's Happening in American Private Education?" This material gave the Board a broader perspective beyond the boundaries of their own school, allowing and encouraging Board members to think proactively and creatively regarding the future of the Academy.

Finally, The Timothy Group facilitated a one-day Minnehaha Academy Long Range Planning Retreat at a nearby conference center. More than 70 individuals, including board members, administrators, alumni, and friends of the Academy, participated in energetic discussion sessions and breakout groups focusing upon envisioning the "ideal" school, brainstorming new ideas, identifying strategic objectives and crafting a planning/operations timeline.

Minnehaha Academy's President indicated that he was pleased with the creativity, humor, energy, and knowledge with which the Timothy Group led the school's long range planning process. "We were deeply thankful for the consultant's leadership and commitment to our institution," he said.

Berean Academy

Berean AcademyA classical Christian school, BEREAN ACADEMY in Lutz, Florida has fewer than 200 students in grades Kindergarten through 12. During their brief history they have worked to carve out an identity for classical education in the Tampa Bay area. The Timothy Group conducted a pre-campaign study in 2008 and determined there was a base to support a capital campaign. The development activity of the Academy had, in the past, been focused upon raising funds for projects. There was limited activity for developing and nurturing a donor base. Beginning the plans and activity of the campaign and needing to identify the best prospects for major gifts, The Timothy Group researched the entire list of the Academy's record of relationships using "Target America," a wealth research program. From the over 700 researched, 180 prospects were identified who have the capability, if motivated, to make a significant financial commitment to the campaign. Further research and cultivation leading to a personal ask with each prospect will be the strategy of the leadership gift phase of the campaign.

Tree of Life Schools

Tree of Life Christian SchoolsTREE OF LIFE SCHOOLS in Columbus, Ohio was a unique situation. A qualified individual with whom the school had enjoyed a long-time relationship was used to conduct the pre-campaign study for the planned campaign to build a new elementary facility. After collecting the study data, health conditions prevented the individual from completing the study report. The Timothy Group, in conjunction with the individual, produced the study report and presented it to the school board. A campaign goal of $5 million was recommended. With the campaign still in the early stage of receiving advance gifts, a lead gift of over $2.5 million has been identified.

Bakersfield Christian High School

bakersfield high photo BAKERSFIELD CHRISTIAN HIGH SCHOOL, in California had broken ground three times prior to our involvement in the effort. There was the thought, "If we hold a ground breaking, everyone will get excited and support the project." Well, it didn't exactly happen that way for the 55 acre state-of-the-art campus, complete with beautiful athletic fields (football, baseball, softball, soccer and track and field). It happened because a board member named Alan Larsen called The Timothy Group and said, "We need some help." In spite of the ground breaking efforts, we backed up and did a pre-campaign/feasibility study and organized a full campaign committee. The money was there; BCHS needed a plan and a mentor, someone to show them how it works. A $4,000,000 sit-down dinner was the final step before a very visible public phase of the campaign, and this time a real ground breaking. The $25,000,000 campus is a shining example of the deep faith and hard work of a board, staff, and committed group of campaign volunteers.
